Introducing Arabia

私を突き動かすものは何か？そうですね、私の根底にあるものによって私は常に動き始めます。私は自分自身が自分の力だけでできているなんてちっとも思いません。皆、今の自分があるために犠牲となることをいとわなかった人というのが存在しているのです。私の両親は起業家でした。私は「働かざる者食うべからず」の信念のなかで育ってきたので、自分が誰か他の人のために働く姿などつゆも想像していませんでした。私の父はアーティストで、母は慈善事業を含む複数の事業で起業していました。両親は私に、自分自身の力で働くということや常にクリエイティブでいることへのモチベーションを植え付けてくれたのです。”クリエイティブでいること”、”自分自身の頭で考え抜くこと”、”問題を解決すること”、”物事を複合的につなぎ合わせること”、こういった私の中の志向が常に自分を突き動かしてくれます。そのため私の中には私という人間の根本をなしている、大きな自由と独立心があるのです。

What drives me? It always starts with foundations for me. I’m never someone that says, ‘I’m self-made.’ It’s always someone from above who has sacrificed for me to be where I am. My parents were entrepreneurs. So I never really had a vision of me working for someone else forever. I lived a childhood where the idea was: ‘You don’t eat if you don’t work.’ My dad was an artist and my mother was an entrepreneur in many different ways, including running a non-profit. So they planted seeds in me early, inspiring me to want to work for myself and to be creative. So what gets me out of bed is the desire to be creative; to take the opportunity to think for myself; to problem-solve; and to put things together. And therein lies a lot of freedom and independence, which are the foundations of my personality.
